FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I am trying to upload the camera-ready version of our paper and it seems that the instructions on the Author Kit are not correct. In particular, it is said to use “mascots12x” as the conference ID. IEEE PDF eXpress reports “The Information Request was not completed because of the following reason(s): The IEEE PDF eXpress™ Conference ID that you entered is not valid.” when using that ID. Could you please check what conference ID should we use?
This is the conference ID for PDF eXpress, which is the IEEE format check tool. They have a note on their website about problems with the conference id. The conference id should be mascots12xp and not mascots12x.
[May 25, 2012: Step-by-step instructions on using the PDF eXpress: pdfexpresss-mascots12x.pdf.]
[May 23, 2012: The PDF eXpress for the conference may be still coming up. You may check back on the system after a few days, but please let that not hold up your camera ready preparation. In the worst case, if you are still unable to access it before May 31, please go ahead and do your best regarding IEEE PDF compatibility and upload your final version foregoing PDF eXpress.]

  2. The author-menu page specifies that “selected” papers would not be charged an additional page fee. It was unclear whether or not my paper (which is 10 pages) was selected for this. Could you check to see if this is the case as it would be pretty difficult for me to trim out 2 pages from my paper. Thanks.
The papers selected for extended 10-page versions were informed by email. If you have not received such an email, please understand that your paper should be limited to 8 pages. Reconfirmation is not necessary.

  3. [Main track submission accepted as poster paper] About two weeks ago, we received the email notifying our paper has been rejected. Would you please clarify this?
As specified in the notification email, your paper was rejected as a regular main track paper, but accepted as a short paper. As specified on the paper submission page of the conference web site, camera-ready versions of short papers can be up to 3 pages in length.

  4. I believe the deadline for [camera-ready] submission is May 31. But the deadline in EDAS site has already expired (old deadline – May 27). Would you please guide me on this issue.
All camera-ready versions are to be uploaded to the IEEE website, not to EDAS. Please follow the instructions in the Author Kit link above.

  5. Must the camera ready be done under EDAS? There are many dates for uploading the final paper (in EDAS: May 27, on MASCOTS website: May 28, in the poster acceptance mail: May 31). What is the correct date for uploading the final paper please?
Camera ready versions are to be uploaded only to the IEEE website, using the instructions in the Author Kit link above. The deadline is May 31. The other dates correspond to manuscript submission for review, which are not relevant now. Please also see information on other questions above.
